Sunday "Lunch and Shopping" Run to Saha Estate
27th November 2016

14 classics lined up outside of Origin Swiss Cafe. An hour of brisk socialising, coffees & breakfast followed & Rik handed out the beautifully framed photos of members cars he'd received from Flora Creek Resort following our October run there.

Following a pre-departure briefing, participating classics set off in convoy for a fairly fast run to Lamphun. On the outskirts of Lamphun, we were met by our police escort (thank you Khun Vittaya!) which whisked us & our cars through traffic lights & u turns, to eventually arrive at SAHA Industrial Estate. Being SAHA's long anticipated Factory Outlet Sale weekend, the place was absolutely teeming with people & cars, so we most thankful for our police escort.

Then within the estate, we visited their magnificent elevated Brahmin Shrine, followed by a visit to their recently discovered ancient stupa site. Our final stop was the Hariphunchai Golf Club, where a delicious Thai lunch awaited us. Organiser Khun Vittaya set a new standard too, by generously sponsoring beer, red & white wines for the lunch!

SAHA have an onsite airstrip, but this weekend, the strip was closed for aircraft & instead used to set up an extensive roadway of factory outlet shops & stalls. So after lunch, our group split into two, with some doing a tour of the golf club & nearby attractions, whilst the remainder got VIP access (complete with dedicated golf buggy) to the factory outlet sale! People made their own way back to Chiang Mai at their convenience.

Our sincere thanks go to organiser Khun Vittaya for a fabulous day out & the general consensus is for us to do it all again the same time next year - with a bit of extra time for the fabulous shopping!
