Lunch Run to Resto - An Automobilia Lunchtime Experience
Sunday 28th May 2017

Around 25 members and friends, with a dozen assorted classic cars, gathered at Origin Swiss Cafe from10am onwards, for a light breakfast and classic conversation.

At 11:00am most of the assembled group set off in convoy, on the 1.5 hour journey to Chiang Dao. Several more members joined our convoy en-route. The repairs to the road leading to Chiang Dao have now been completed, and the new highway was a speedy joy to drive, without incident.

Our lunch venue was the lovely "Resto at Chiang Dao" restaurant, where a delicious modern-style Thai meal had been prepared for us, and served in the upstairs air-conditioned dining room, with views over the rice fields to the cloud-shrouded mountain providing the perfect backdrop.

Sadly, our group was one of the last to enjoy the delights of "Resto" in its current format, as three days later the Belgian owners were leaving the business in the hands of their former Thai patners, and removing all of the auto-related memorabelia and artefacts from the premises. We wish them every success in their new venture, wherever it may be!

Thanks go to member Rex B for organising this thoroughly enjoyable day, which was one of the longest luncheon-runs in the history of our club.
