Sunday Lunch Run to "The Rainforest" (Khao Mao - Khao Fang)
following a visit to WVS Care for Dogs
for the re-dedication of "The Blacky Gate"
Sunday 31st March

We will meet at our usual meeting place of Origin Swiss Cafe, on the Night Safari Road close to the northern junction with the Hang Dong Road from 10am, for tea, coffee and a light breakfast, at specially discounted member prices.

We renew memories of former members this month with a rededication of 'The Blacky Gate'. Blacky was an honorary founder member of Classic Cars of Lanna and, accompanied by her driver Niko T, joined us on most of our early trips around the local countryside. A fine black Labrador, she was everyone's favourite and when she passed away we were asked by members to create a memorial to her and to offer our sympathies to Niko. The Blacky Gate, located at the WVS Care for Dogs shelter in Nam Phrae, Hang Dong, was the result of some fund raising and this was declared open during a run held on 27th Jan 2008.

At 11.30am we will depart from Origin in convay, arriving at the sanctuary before noon, where a replacement plaque will be installed on the original gate. There will be an opportunity for a short walk around to view, and maybe fall in love with, some of the dogs available for adoption.

Afterwards we will move on for a lunch at the famous forest-themed restaurant Khao Mao - Khao Fang (known locally as "The Rainforest"), back on the Night Safari Road, where members can order Thai or International food from their extensive menu at very reasonable prices.

More details to follow.
