Easter Sunday Samoeng Loop Lunch Run - 31st March

We met for our monthly Sunday Run at 10:00am at our usual meeting point, Bistro1, Nim City Daily, where host and Club Sponsor Chris Barr laid on coffee, tea, bacon sandwhiches and other delights for our breakfast.

About 20 members and friends gathered, along with 11 classic cars. We were very pleased to welcome some new members and some new classic cars to our group, including Danny from Belgium, with his Gold Mercedes 500SEL and David from New Zealand with his Tiffany Blue and White Mercedes 240 and K Vittaya from Chiang Mai with his Powder Blue Volkswagen Beetle.

We left NIM City Daily in convoy at 11:15am prompt, and our run took us past the new Chiang Mai Convention Sentre, via Mae Rim, to join the "Samoeng Loop", one of the most scenic drives in the Chiang Mai area, and a favourite with many members over the years.

A couple of minor problems with engines and brakes, on the challenging mountain route, meant we had to stop and let our vehicles cool down a little .... during which rest break we were overtaken by two rather large elephants! Probably more expensive to keep on the road than most of our classics, and certainly more reliable! See the video below for photographic evidence!

Almost at the end of the "loop" we arrived at the beautiful Lanna Resort, a hidden gem in the mountains, this resort boasts a lovely Thai restuarant where members enjoyed a Thai lunch and some well-deserved cool drinks.

A good day out was had by all !
