The Lotus Elite, the first 4 seater model ever from this marque, was produced between 1974 and 1982, total production was 2535. It was the last Lotus to have significant design input from Colin Chapman, although the body was styled by the in-house designer, Oliver Winterbottom. This particular vehicle was shipped to, then sold & driven in, the USA and was brought to Thailand in 1980/1.

The shell is finished through 360 degrees in DuPont paint, matched to Lotus Yellow with full black leather interior and high quality gray carpeting & headlining. The custom veneering on the dash, gear knob and console far exceeds the original Lotus standards.

The registration book shows only two owners, the current owner since 2008. During this period a complete body off restoration has been undertaken, with many parts brought from the UK’s leading specialist in Elites to enable a conversion from LHD to RHD. All other components and fittings were refurbished or replaced, too much to list here; further details are available to interested parties.

Now powered by a BMW M44 engine and matching gearbox the car retains much of the original handling characteristics and performance. There is a working Eaton M62 Supercharger and custom built aluminium fitting kit included in the sale, but not currently fitted to the car.

The car has been regularly maintained and kept in a carport and under a cover when not in use. The overall condition would rate highly, although not Concours. Used almost as daily driver it is often to be seen around the city, and featuring on classic car runs and golfing trips. This has meant a steady regime of detailing to ensure of its presentation to a high standard.
