Sunday Social Gathering - 28th July

This month, we had a Sunday Social Gathering at our usual meeting place of Bistro1, NIM City Daily, from 10am, when about 22 members and friends along with 7 classic cars gathered for a chat, a coffee or tea, and a bacon sandwhich laid on for us by our host and sponsor Chris Barr.

Member David P, a long-time Austin 1800 (BMC ADO17 Colloquially known as the "Landcrab"), enthusiast, owner, driver and rally participant, entertained us by showing some classic footage of these often under-rated cult cars taking part in the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon, along with an Castrol Oil endurance test around Australia. The videos brought back fond memories for many of us, and certainly many familiar names from the past involved with rally driving. David also enlightened us further about the 1800 Series of Cars with a most informative and detailed presentation.

Member Nest arrived in the latest addittion to his ever-growing collection of classic cars, a splendid dark blue Maserati Ghibli Bi-Turbo, which sounds as good as it looks!

A very good morning was had by all, and at the end of the meeting 12 members and friends stayed on at Bistro1 to sample their delicious luncheon menu.
